Personal Book Review on Wicked Lovely

Wicked Lovely is the first book from the series of the same name written by Melissa Marr. The series consists of Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange, Fragile Eternity, Radiant Shadows, and Darkest Mercy.

As a lot of young adult books are nowadays, the story has a somewhat dark and supernatural touch. The main character, Aislinn or Ash, is a seventeen-year-old girl who is gifted. She herself wouldn't call it a gift, though. She can see faeries. All of them, everyday. She has been seeing them from when she was little girl.

Being raised by her grandmother, who has Sight as well, she was taught early on on how to handle having the Sight. Faeries are dangerous and they can be mean. They can hurt human beings, without even revealing what they really are.

Faeries have the power or ability to create galmours: a human disguise. Since Faeries are wicked and lovely at the same time, these disguises always seem a little bit too perfect.

Ash soon notices that two faeries are following her. With the help of her best friend, Seth, they search for answers to why Ash is becoming such an interest among faeries. Along the path of their research, they are given a chance to spend even more time than they normally do and discover how they truly feel about each other as well as finding out that one of the faeries following her is not just any ordinary faerie, but a Summer King. As they continue their learning, they get to know how they could defend themselves and Seth soon finds out how he can achieve the Sight as well.

Keenan, the Summer King, furthermore tries to pursue Ash by enrolling in her school with the help of his advisers as king and his ever so attractive glamour. Together they discover that Keenan isn't so bad after all, and things are much more serious than they seem.

Aside from fantastic descriptions, insight and passages from other books of reference about faeries, the book is dark and captures you in the world that only few like Ash can see. A book of love and excitement, truly riveting and entertaining to read.
